Coach Brad Hodge, "once again we have a challenging schedule that will greatly test the competitiveness of this 2009-10 team. However, I am as excited as I have ever been about the potential of this team and what lies ahead with this season’s schedule. We will have the fortunate opportunity to begin much of the first semester playing at Bill Battle Coliseum. Thanks to the support of the Sheraton Hotel, we are also able to host this season’s classic with Huntingdon and have East Texas Baptist and Rust to join in the classic. We are adding Berry College who is in their first season transitioning into Division 3, as we were 2 seasons ago, and that I look forward to developing a good competitive rivalry with them as we both make our way to Division 3."
Coach Hodge has scheduled nine non-conference games this season to supplement the 16-game SCAC schedule. "As usual, the SCAC will be provide a list of schools that will be nationally ranked and post-season potential that certainly will require our team to be best prepared to compete on each night."
The men will also open up on the 16th when they host LaGrange College at 7 p.m. The "Battle of the Panthers" will be the first of their nine non-conference games. The Panthers will play a total of 14 games in Bill Battle this season.
Just like the ladies, the men will add those games to the 16 the SCAC provides to round out their 2009-10 campaign. "Our SCAC schedule will once again prove to be very challenging. Each year the league has at least two, sometimes three teams cracking the top 25 in Div. III. The East is particularly strong with Centre, Depauw and Oglethorpe returning the majority of their players. With more games on the road this year, we will have to step up and play our best basketball in the months of January and February."
