Panthers fall to Dallas, 64-52

LONGVIEW, Texas—
The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team lost its second straight game today, falling to University of Dallas at LeTourneau University, 64-52. The Panthers fall to 5-4, and the Lady Crusaders move to 4-5.

With the exception of the first minute of the game, in which the Panthers went up 3-0 courtesy of a layup and foul shot by sophomore Erin Moore, Dallas led for the entire game. The Lady Crusaders led 26-21 at the half, and stayed at least three points ahead of the Panthers for the duration of the game, eventually winning by 12.

Moore led with 11 points, sophomore Melanie Short led with eight rebounds, and juniors Kristian Moody and Ashton Spurgin led with three assists each. Senior Jamie Key also led with three steals.

BSC shot 32.7 percent (17-of-52) from the field, 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from three-point range, and 68.4 percent (13-of-19) at the free throw line.

The Panthers pulled down 40 rebounds to Dallas' 32, but turned the ball over 30 times.

BSC wraps up its Texas road trip tomorrow against LeTourneau at noon before taking a break for the holidays, returning home on New Year's Eve to face conference rival Sewanee at 3 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
