BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a big home win against Judson College, Friday evening in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers won 97-40 in game two of the Sheraton Birmingham Classic.
Junior Melanie Short led all players with 14 points and 10 rebounds, followed by junior Alex Adams with 13 points, junior Erin Moore with 11 points, and senior Sam Davidson with 10 points. Davidson also led with five assists, and sophomore Stephanie Stanley led with five steals.
Shekinah Lewis led Judson with 16 points and six rebounds, while Avian Middleton led with four assists.
The Panthers shot 44.3 percent (35-of-79) from the field, 31 percent (9-of-29) from three-point range, and 69.2 percent (18-of-26) from the free throw line. BSC out-rebounded Judson 58-36.
The Eagles struggled offensively, shooting only 22.8 percent (13-of-57) from the field, 31.2 percent (5-of-16) from beyond the arc, and 75 percent (9-of-12) from the line.
Judson committed 29 turnovers to BSC's 13.
BSC is back on the court tomorrow to face LeTourneau University at 3 p.m.
