BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Melanie Short was named First-Team All- Southern Athletic Association team while seniors Alex Adams and Caroline King earned Honrable Mention honors according to a release from the SAA office on Monday.
Short played her way onto the first-team after earning honorable mention honors in 2011-12. The Pelham, Ala., native led the Panthers with 11.2 points and 7.3 points per game and had 38 assists, 17 blocks and 22 steals. She also had the top field goal percentage, making 97-of-210 shots for 48.3 percent.
Adams joins the honorable mention team for the second straight season, averaging 9.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The Smyna, Tenn., native added 34 assists and 22 steals and shot 41 percent from the floor.
King was the team's third leading scorer with a 9.4 norm and led the team with 57 assists. She was a team-best 84 percent free throw shooter and was second on the team with 31 3-pointers and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
