Basketball opens 2013-14 season this weekend at home
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's basketball teams will open the 2013-14 season at home this weekend in Bill Battle Coliseum.
The men will host the Black Tie Classic, facing Spalding on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m., and Emory on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m. The women host Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Panther men, under third-year Head Coach Chris Graves, return to the hardwood after going 20-8 last season for their fourth consecutive 20-win season. Thirteen returnees highlight this year's roster, as well as 11 newcomers for one of the biggest BSC squads in recent history.
The BSC women are led by first-year Head Coach Rena Faust-Holden. The Panthers were 12-14 last season and will also field a large team this season, headlined by lone senior Elizabeth Bromirski and four other returners. BSC will have a lot of fresh faces on the court, with 17 newcomers suiting up for the Panthers.
Admission for home basketball games is $5.00; children under 18 as well as students are admitted free of charge. If you are unable to attend, all games will feature a live game tracker as well.
