Batts, Curry, Ford named Honorable Mention All-Conference

JACKSON, Miss.—Sophomore Jasmynn Batts, junior Ashley Curry, and senior Kayla Ford all garnered Honorable Mention All-Southern Athletic Association women's basketball honors, the league office announced this evening during the semifinals of the 2015 SAA Championship in Jackson, Miss.

Ford, a forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., led the team with 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this year, recording three double-doubles and two 20-point games. She led the team in scoring nine times and rebounding 10 times.

Batts, a guard from Huntsville, Ala., was second on the team with 7.7 points per game. She led the team in scoring seven times and rebounding four times, with two 20-point games.

Curry, a guard from Birmingham, Ala., was third on the team averaging 7.1 points a contest and led with 2.5 assists per game. She was the leading scorer in three games and the leading rebounder twice.

Velvet Johnson of Millsaps was voted SAA Player of the Year, Sarah Johnson of Rhodes was voted Defensive Player of the Year, Sara Dyslin of Hendrix was voted Newcomer of the Year, and Millsaps head coach Chuck Winkelman was named Coach of the Year.
