BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Led by four Panthers scoring in double figures, the Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team moved to 4-0 with a 79-39 win over Covenant, Tuesday evening in Bill Battle Coliseum.
The 4-0 start marks BSC's best since the 2003-04 season, when the Panthers opened with five straight wins. The Scots fell to 1-3 with the loss.
BSC pulled out to a 10-2 lead within the first 6:33 and would never trail, leading 22-12 by the end of the first period and then 37-19 at the half.
The Panthers out-scored the Scots 14-7 in the third and 28-13 in the fourth, winning by 40.
Seniors Halle Knowles and Yorisha Bryant led with 12 points apiece, followed by junior Jameice Holmes with 11 and junior Jasmynn Batts with 10. Holmes also led with nine rebounds and four assists, and she and senior Ashley Curry led with three steals apiece.
BSC shot over 51 percent (33-64) from the field, and out-rebounded Covenant 44-36.
The Panthers are back in action on Monday, Nov. 30, traveling to Atlanta to face Agnes Scott College at 6 p.m. ET.
