BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball program has received a commitment from Emilee Olsen, who has completed her intent to enroll in the college this fall, Head Coach Mike Ricks announced today.
Olsen is a 6'1" forward from Marietta, Ga., and will come to the Hilltop after a standout career at Lassiter High School, where she averaged a double-double during her senior season. A four-year starter and two-year team captain, Olsen was named to both the All-County and All-Region teams this past season.
"We are very excited to add a player of Emilee's caliber to our roster," Ricks said. "I've had the chance to get to know Emilee throughout the course of the past year and I believe that BSC is not only getting a great basketball player, but a great student and person as well."
In addition to basketball, Olsen also served as class secretary and was a member of the National Honor Society. She also has been recognized as a scholar athlete every year during her high school career.
"I'm excited to join a program that has a winning culture and high expectations," Olsen said. "BSC has a terrific academic reputation and everyone I've met on campus so far has made me feel at home."
Olsen plans to major in economics/political science at BSC.
