MT. BERRY, Ga. – A last second shot pushed Berry College over the Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team Sunday afternoon as the Panthers fell 60-58 on the road. BSC (8-14) moved to 5-6 against Southern Athletic Association opponents.
Leah Middleton (Decatur, Ga./St. Pius X HS) hit a pair of free throws with seven seconds left that put the Panthers up 58-57 after three lead changes in the final minute. But a buzzer beating three as time expired gave Berry the win.
Christian McGowan (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) led with a game-high 17 points, making 5-of-9 from three point range and shooting 60-percent from the floor. Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) earned another double-double by grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds with 14 points.
BSC returns home after two weeks on the road for a pair of SAA matchups. They take on Rhodes College Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. and then Hendrix College on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
