BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team erased a 16 point fourth quarter deficit to comeback against Southern Athletic Association regular season champions Millsaps College Saturday. The Panthers (9-16, 6-8 SAA) pulled within two with under a minute to play, but eventually fell 69-64 in their last home game of the season.
Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) led with team-highs of 15 points and six rebounds. The forward also had a game-high three blocks and two steals. Misa Fujii (Sunnyvale, Calif./Notre Dame) and Christian McGowan (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) finished in double-figures. Fujii racked up 14 points shooting 5-for-9 from the floor. McGowan earned 12 points, respectively.
BSC is now the No. 5 seed in the SAA Tournament. They will take on No. 4 seed Rhodes College in the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. Winner will face the winner of No. 1 Millsaps and No. 8 Hendrix College in the semifinals at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
