Olsen Defensive Player of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team put two Panthers on Southern Athletic Association All-Conference squads.  Headlining the group was Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS), who was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors.

Olsen, who ranks nationally in seven categories, recently broke the programs all-time career blocks record as a junior.  She now sits at 160 for her career after sending a career-high 66 shots back down on shooters this season.  Olsen also led the league in block shots, double-doubles, field goal percentage, and rebounds.

Christian McGowan (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) earned a spot on the honorable mention team.  The senior hit 46 three's this season to finish fifth in the league.  She now sits third all-time in the program for career made three-point field goals.
