Maisie Elston was hired as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach in June 2015.
Elston was instrumental in helping the Panthers earn the program’s first 25-win season in program history in her inaugural year, capturing both the Southern Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles. Four Panthers earned all-conference honors in that historic season, including SAA Newcomer of the Year and D3hoops.com All-Region selection Yorisha Bryant.
At the end of the 2015-16 season, the Panthers shot over 40-percent from the floor as a team, outscoring opponents by 339 points.
Elston was a four-year varsity player at NCAA Division I Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas. She competed in over 100 games during her career, including 25 games as a senior team captain in the 2014-15 season. Elston helped HBU to the finals of the 2015 Southland Conference Championship Tournament after the Huskies entered as the eighth seed, knocking off fifth-seeded McNeese State, fourth-seeded Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and top-seeded Stephen F. Austin before falling to sixth-seeded Northwestern State in the final game.
Elston, a native of Rochford, England, also played for the Great Britain U20 National Team in the Division A FIBA European Championship, and she was also a member of the U18 England National Team that competed in the FIBA European Championship in Miskolc, Hungary, in the summer of 2011 and 2012. She attended one of the most prestigious basketball academies in the United Kingdom and was renowned as one of the most prolific perimeter players in her age group. Elston also played club ball for the Sevenoaks Suns in Division I of the English National League.
Elston graduated from HBU with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in psychology. She was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and was also a member of the HBU Dean's List.
