MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern finished at the top of the leader board in both men’s and women’s play Tuesday in the Alabama State Fall Golf Classic at the Lagoon Park Golf Club in Montgomery. Nick Blakely finished first in the men’s tournament and Kelley Burgess and Jordan Hardy tied for first in the women’s.
The Panthers cleaned-up individually. Nick Blakely finished 3-under, four strokes ahead of Alabama State’s Kyle Demester, for the top spot in the men’s tournament. Ryan Falgout, Matt Kelley, and Matt Laughridge all tied for third at 3-over par for the two day event. Matthew Barnes and Lee Benton tied for 12th at 6-over.
The women turned in an even more dominating pair of rounds. Kelley Burgess and Jordan Hardy split top honors, both finishing 6-over. Ashley Lovell (+11), Gankhar Amandossoua(+12), and Taylor Kirby(+13) were right on their heels in 3rd-5th place, respectively. Jennifer Commander and Kelsey Farrell rounded out the BSC roster at 7th and 11th place overall.
The women’s team will return home on Monday, September 15 for the BSC Tri-Match from the Highland Park Golf Course. The men will host the Southern Showdown the following Monday and Tuesday at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Course.
