CALERA, Ala. – Junior Ashley Lovell shot a 74 today in the first round of the 2010 Ann Rhoads Classic at Timberline Golf Club in Calera, Ala., and is tied for first place, while the Panthers stand at third overall with a combined score of 337.
West Florida leads the “Gold” Division of the tournament after today’s round with a team score of 328, followed by Shorter College at second with 335. Mobile and West Georgia round out the top five with scores of 339 and 345.
In the “Black” Division, consisting of NCAA Division I teams, Tennessee Tech and Indiana State sit tied for first with scores of 320, followed by Jackson State (326), Butler (329), Evansville (335), and Lipscomb (374).
Montevallo’s Emily Gibson is tied with Lovell for the top individual spot in the Gold Division. Shorter’s Greta Lange is third after carding a 78 today, while West Florida’s Jenny Lines and Mobile’s Maegan Rice are tied for fourth with scores of 79.
In the Black Division, Jackson State’s Jennifer Sells leads with a 74, followed by TTU’s Diana Carson and Lipscomb’s Katie Pursell, who both shot 76 today. ISU’s Astrid Parsons and Breanne Smith, and Evansville’s Maggie Wood are all tied for fourth with scores of 77.
Action continues tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
