BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team is in fifth place after one round of play in the Ann Rhoads Invitational at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course.
Senior Ashley Lovell led BSC with a total of 79 today, putting her in fourth place overall. Freshman Ellen Chun was second for the Panthers with 85, followed by freshman Katie Skeeles with 89, freshman Kaleigh Toole with 91, and sophomore Michelle Morris with 93. The Panthers' total first-round score was 344, tying them with Lee University and Evansville University for fifth place, just five strokes back from the University of Indianapolis.
Butler University leads all teams after today's round with a score of 328, followed by West Florida with 329 and Montevallo with 335.
Montevallo's Emily Gibson leads all players after shooting a 73 today, followed by West Florida's Bhavna Shetty with 77 and Butler's Julia Porter with 78.
Round two will take place tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
