Women's Golf finishes second at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team placed second this weekend at the Jekyll Island Invitational behind defending national champion Methodist University, who has won 13 straight and 23 total national titles.

The Panthers hit a three-round total of 974 behind Methodist's 951. Freshman Ellen Chun was BSC's top golfer, placing sixth overall with 235. Senior Ashley Lovell finished 12th with 240, freshman Katie Skeeles was 25th with 249, freshman Kaleigh Toole was 32nd with 253, and junior Michelle Morris was 34th with 254 in the field of 118 golfers.

Methodist's Kelsie Carralero was the individual champion with 229.

Fellow SCAC schools Centre, Southwestern, Rhodes, Trinity, and Oglethorpe all participated as well, with Centre placing third, just three strokes behind BSC. Southwestern was eighth, Rhodes was ninth, Trinity was 11th, and Oglethorpe was 15th.
