No. 17 Women's Golf finishes second at SCAC Championship

TUNICA, Miss.—The 17th-ranked Birmingham-Southern women's golf team remained in second place after today's third and final round of the SCAC Championship, held at The Links of Cottonwood in Tunica, Miss.

The Panthers carded 325 today for a three-round total of 979, 23 strokes behind SCAC champion No. 4 Centre College. Senior Jennifer Commander was BSC's top finisher, placing fourth with a three-round total of 242 after shooting a 79 today. Sophomore Rachelle Struthers carded an 80 today for a total of 244, putting her in fifth place overall. Their top-five finishes give both players First-Team All-SCAC honors.

Junior Michelle Morris and sophomore Kaleigh Toole tied for eighth place overall with scores of 247 to earn Second-Team All-Conference accolades.

Centre All-American Emily Bachert was the individual medalist and SCAC Player-of-the-Year, shooting 228 over three rounds, followed by No. 19 Southwestern's Karissa Speck and Alyssa Brown of Centre, who was named SCAC Freshman-of-the-Year.
