No. 18 Panthers move to second after strong second-round performance in SAA Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The No. 18 Birmingham-Southern women's golf team has closed to within two shots of No. 8 Centre College after two rounds of the Southern Athletic Association Championship at Highland Lake Golf Course in Birmingham.

BSC holds a two-day total of 628, just two strokes back from Centre's 626. Rhodes is in third with 652, followed by Sewanee with 659 and Oglethorpe with 672.

BSC's team total of 303 today is a 22-stroke improvement from their first round performance yesterday. During Saturday's second round every player on BSC's roster either lowered or equaled their score from Friday's opening round to move up from third in the team standings after one round of play to second heading into Sunday's final round.

Sophomore Jesse Lawley still leads BSC after signing for a second consecutive 76 for a two-round total of 152. Lawley remains in second for individual medalist honors and trails only Emily Javadi of Sewanee with 150 (77-73). Freshman Sarah Dolmovich was impressive today as well, shooting a round-low 71, and she is now tied for fifth with 156 (85-71). Centre's Alyssa Brown is in third with 153 (79-74), and Whitney Miller, also from Centre, is fourth with 154 (80-74).

Sunday's final round will tee off at 8 a.m.
