Rhodes wins 2015 'Southern Shootout

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Rhodes College women's golf team won the 2015 'Southern Shootout on Monday at Highland Park Golf Course, finishing with a two-round total of 590.

The Lynx shot 297 yesterday and followed that up with a 293 showing today, led by individual champion Emily Salamy with 144 (72-72).

Centre College finished second with a team total of 614 (312-302), followed by Faulkner at third with 616 (310-306). Birmingham-Southern placed seventh overall with a score of 656 (338-318).

Centre's Eliza Hudson was the second-place individual finisher with 146 (73-73), followed by Rhodes' Nikki Isaacson at third with 147 (75-72). Centre's Jill Edgington (76-72--148) and Rhodes' Mackenzie Cohen (74-74--148) tied for fourth to round out the All-Tournament Team.

Freshman Sarah Moon led BSC with 158 (78-80) to place 17th overall, followed by senior Wallis Fairvilley (85-78--163) and sophomore Drew McDonagh (84-79--163) who tied for 22nd.

The Panthers are back in action this weekend at the DIII Golfweek Preview at Sandestin Golf Resort in Sandestin, Fla.
