Panthers' Chambers Takes Second at BSC Southern Showdown

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team tied for third place at the 2017 BSC Southern Showdown at Highland Park Golf Course on Sunday.

The Panthers, who shot 635 as a team, were led by freshman Alexis Chambers. Chambers, a native of Fort Payne, Ala., shot 12-over, 152 (75, 77) to finish second individually, earning herself a spot on the BSC Southern Showdown All-Tournament Team.

BSC also entered a B-Team, which placed sixth among nine teams. The B-Team was led by freshman Molly Norris, who shot a 169 (78, 81) to finish tied for 12th.

Four other Panthers – junior Sarah Moon, sophomore Sarah Posey, senior Drew McDonagh and sophomore Madison Dalton – also finished in the top 25.

Milligan College took home the tournament's team and individual crowns. The Buffaloes shot 619 as a team with Sarah Son forging the way. Son shot 149 (72, 77) to lead the 48-player field.

BSC will look to build off Sunday's performance when it travels to a tournament in Dickson, Tenn. on Sunday, Sept. 24. Rhodes College is the host for the tournament which will be played at Greystone Golf Course.
