DALLAS, Texas—The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team dropped its second straight game today, losing 20-6 to Nazareth College in Dallas, Texas. The Panthers fall to 2-2 on the season.
After the teams traded goals in the first two minutes of the game, Nazareth went on a 6-0 scoring run to go up 7-1 at the 22:26 mark. BSC junior Chelsea Van Voorhis scored two goals after that to cut it to 7-3, but the Golden Flyers answered with two quick goals of their own to go back up 9-3. BSC sophomore Stephanie Gore scored after that, which was BSC's last goal of the half, before Nazareth scored five straight times to end the half with a 14-4 lead.
The Golden Flyers also scored the first four goals of the second half, going up 18-4, before Van Voorhis and junior Lyndsay Griffin scored twice more for the Panthers to bring the score to 18-6. Nazareth was able to score twice more before the end of the game.
Van Voorhis scored three of BSC's six goals, and junior goalkeeper Katie Bates made four saves for the Panthers. Gore, Griffin, Bates, and junior Judy Montalvo led with three ground balls each, and Gore led with three draw controls.
The Panthers conclude their trip to Dallas on Thursday, taking on the host University of Dallas at 4 p.m.
