Women's Lacrosse defeats University of Dallas, 13-6
Led by junior Chelsea Van Voorhis with six goals, the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team concluded its spring break trip to Dallas, Texas, with a 13-6 win against the University of Dallas today. The Panthers move to 3-2 on the season.
BSC out-scored Dallas 7-2 in the first half, and 6-4 in the second. Van Voorhis also led with 10 shots and three draw controls. Junior Lyndsay Griffin also scored three goals, senior Ashley Johnson had two, and sophomores Anna Barry and Stephanie Gore had one apiece. Johnson led with seven ground balls, while Gore had five. Junior goalkeeper Katie Bates played all 60 minutes and made nine saves.
The Panthers out-shot Dallas, 32-25, and led in ground balls 28-20. Draw controls were even at 10 apiece, but BSC committed only eight turnovers to Dallas' 22.
BSC returns home for its next game on Wednesday, March 23, opening Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Colorado College at 5 p.m. in Panther Stadium.
