DECATUR, Ga.—Led by senior Ashley Johnson and sophomore Rebecca Klementz with four goals apiece, the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team defeated Agnes Scott College on the road, 17-4, Wednesday evening to move to 4-4 on the season.
Agnes Scott scored first in the game and the teams traded goals after that, with the Scotties leading 2-1 at the 19:13 mark before BSC scored six straight goals to close out the half with a 7-2 lead. ASC scored the first goal of the second half, but the Panthers responded with eight straight goals to go up 15-3. The Scotties scored once more with 10:16 left in the game, and BSC added two more goals in the last 10 minutes for the 17-4 win.
Johnson and Klementz led with four goals each, and junior Alexis Sweda had three goals and two assists. Sophomore Stephanie Gore led with four ground balls, and Klementz had four draw controls. Junior Katie Bates played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded four saves.
The Panthers return home this weekend for two games, taking on LaGrange, Friday at 5 p.m., and Millsaps, Saturday at 1 p.m., both in Panther Stadium.
