Women's Lacrosse downs LaGrange on the road, 19-6

LaGRANGE, Ga.—Led by senior Chelsea Van Voorhis with six goals, the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team won on the road, Wednesday, defeating LaGrange College 19-6.

The BSC Panthers move to 5-2, while the LaGrange Panthers fall to 2-6.

BSC scored the first two goals of the game in the first five minutes and would never trail. The teams traded goals after that before BSC scored four straight to go up 7-2 with 12:33 remaining. LaGrange scored twice in the last minute of the half to cut it to 7-4.

BSC opened the second half with seven straight goals to widen the margin to 14-4 by the 12:08 mark. LaGrange scored twice more after that, but BSC ended the game with five more straight goals for a final of 19-6.

Van Voorhis led all players with her six goals on seven shots. Junior Stephanie Gore also scored four goals, while sophomore Madeline Golden added three. Six different Panthers had one goal apiece.

Gore and Golden led with five ground balls each; Gore and Van Voorhis led with five caused turnovers apiece. Van Voorhis also won five of BSC's 12 draw controls.

BSC out-shot LaGrange 43-18 while committing 11 fewer turnovers with 21. LaGrange won 14 of the 26 draw controls, though.

The Panthers return home for two games this weekend, taking on Agnes Scott on Friday at 5 p.m. and opening SCAC play on Sunday against Centre College at 1 p.m. in Panther Stadium.
