SEWANEE, Tenn.—Saturday's first voyage in post-season play left the fourth-seeded Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team on the wrong side of an 18-8 decision against top-seeded Colorado College in the semifinals of the 2012 SCAC Championship.
The loss wraps up the Panthers' season at 8-7, while Colorado College will advance to Sunday's championship game with a record of 14-3.
The Tigers scored the first goal of the game and would never trail, although BSC cut it to 4-3 at the 18-minute mark of the first half. After that, CC out-scored the Panthers 11-2 to close out the half with a 15-5 lead. Scoring was even at 3-3 in the second half.
Sophomore Madeline Golden paced the Panthers with a game-high three goals. Senior keeper Katie Bates stopped six shots on the afternoon.
