BSC Women’s Lacrosse Can’t Overcome Slow Start In Loss To Marymount
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Birmingham-Southern got off to a slow start and never really recovered as Marymount (2-0) earned a 16-8 win in a neutral site contest played in Hendersonville, Tenn., on Wednesday.
Gored caused a team-high four turnovers while Golden, O'Brien, and Smith each caused two turnovers. Logan Harris and Caroline Rowan led the Panthers with three ground balls.
Marymount scored the first five goals of the game and held a 6-1 halftime lead. Harris scored BSC's first goal with 5:45 left in the first half before Lindsay Bullock added the final goal of the half for Marymount with 1:44 to play.
The Panthers tallied the first two goals of the second half to cut the deficit to 6-3 only to see Marymount score the next five goals to take an 11-3 lead on a Taylor Johnson goal at the 15:33 mark.
BSC answered with three straight goals to make it an 11-6 contest. Klementz started the short spurt at 15:21 followed by Gore at 13:41 and Harris at 12:17.
Marymount was able to keep a five goal before adding three goals in the final 5:03 to equal the win margin.
Stephanie Kean led the Marymount with four goals and three assists. Rachel Duff, Johnson and Bullock with three goals followed with three goals.
BSC returns to Southern Athletic Association against Centre College on Friday at 5 p.m. and will play Carthage in a neutral site game in Danville on Saturday at a time to be announced.
