BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team dropped a home game Monday evening, losing to Piedmont 24-6 on Battle Field at Panther Stadium.
BSC fell to 0-3, while the Lions moved to 4-0.
Piedmont scored three goals in the first seven minutes of play, including a goal 20 seconds into the game, and never let up on the Panthers. Mid-way through the first half, the Lions led 6-1, with BSC's goal coming from junior Amanda Amerson. By the end of the first half, Piedmont led 13-4, with BSC's other goals coming from freshman Natalie Daniel, Amerson, and freshman Ashley Shepherd.
The second half was similar, with the Lions out-scoring the Panthers 11-2. Both of BSC's goals were scored by Shepherd, who led the team with three. Amerson ended up with two goals and two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Dryer played all 60 minutes and recorded eight saves.
Mckynsey Douglas led Piedmont with seven goals, and goalie Blake Forrest made three saves.
The Panthers are back in action at home this Wednesday, hosting Otterbein at 5 p.m.
