DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship, losing to Centre, 19-10, at the South Campus Complex in Danville, Ky.

Sixth-seeded BSC finishes the 2015 season with an overall record of 4-9. Third-seeded Centre now stands at 7-9 and advances to take on second-seeded Rhodes next weekend in the semifinals, hosted by regular season champion Sewanee.

Freshman Ashley Shepherd and junior Amanda Amerson combined for nine of the Panther goals on the afternoon. A free position goal from Amerson at the 11:34 mark of the first half tied up the match at 4-4, and a Shepherd goal with 5:21 left pulled the Panthers to within two at 7-5. Unfortunately, a 5-0 Centre run to close out the opening half gave the Colonels a 12-5 halftime advantage.

Three straight Centre goals to open the second half pushed the Colonels' lead to 15-5. An unassisted goal from freshman Natalie Daniel ended the Centre run and cut the lead to single digits at 15-6. The two squads continued to exchange goals, with BSC out-scoring Centre 5-4 in the second half after the Colonels' hot start.

Amerson scored a team-high five goals with Shepherd right behind her with four goals of her own. Defensively, Daniel and junior Shana O'Brien led BSC by scooping up three ground balls each. Sophomore Hannah Hudson paced the Panthers with four draw control victories. Freshman Chloe Massoni played in goal the entire match earning 15 saves.
