Six Panthers receive SAA Women's Lacrosse postseason honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Six members of the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team received Southern Athletic Association post-season honors, the league office announced this week.

Juniors Shana O'Brien and Amanda Amerson, and freshman Ashley Shepherd were voted Second-Team All-Conference, and senior Paige Holderfield and freshmen Chloe Massoni and Natalie Daniel were named Honorable Mention All-SAA.

Amerson, a midfielder from Orlando, Fla., led the team and ranked eighth in the conference this season with 44 goals, and was 11th in the SAA with 55 points. She was also fourth in the league with 44 ground balls and 11th with 18 caused turnovers.

Shepherd, a midfielder from Knoxville, Tenn., recorded 42 goals and 25 ground balls this season, and O'Brien, a defender from Toms River, N.J., picked up 22 ground balls with 11 caused turnovers.

Daniel, a midfielder from Ooltewah, Tenn., was fourth in the SAA with 65 draw controls and sixth with 41 ground balls. Holderfield, a defender from Mobile, Ala., recorded 15 ground balls, and Massoni, a goalkeeper from Baltimore, Md., was second in the SAA with a 49.0 save percentage, and fifth with a 12.47 GAA as well as 102 saves.
