BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Going beyond the scores and team stats, sports can open the door for opportunities to make a difference. As a team, you have the power to do something bigger than you can do alone. And the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team decided to create care packages for an Air Force unit on Bagram Air Force Base. What better way to build team chemistry than doing something for someone else?
"We want the soldiers to know that the BSC women's lacrosse team is thinking of them and their families," said Head Coach Courtney Williams. "Only one percent of the population does what they do, and sending them a care package was the least we could do."
The team sent items like gummies, chips, cake snacks, and candy along with a BSC lacrosse cup. This was the first time the woman's team had done this, and they have already made a huge impact.
"All of the guys said these are some of the best care packages they've received," said Assistant Coach Logan Harris. "Overall, everybody was extremely appreciative."
The Panthers spent the first two games of the season at home, but were recently on the road. They return home March 2 to take on Adrian College at 6 p.m.
