GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team earned a 15-10 road win at Southwestern on Friday night, improving to 4-5 on the season.
The Panthers and Pirates played it tight in the first half with BSC taking an 8-6 lead into halftime. In the final 30 minutes, the Panthers extended the margin by outscoring the home side 7-4 and win the game.
Katie Gleeson (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) accounted for over half of BSC's goals, scoring a game-high seven goals and assisting on two more. The senior had a good performance defensively, as well, forcing a game-high seven turnovers and picking up four ground balls.
Three other Panthers had multiple goals. Freshman Lizzie LaVangie (Jacksonville, Fla./Darlington School) scored three goals, and Mari Clair Harmon (Houston, Texas/Northland Christian HS) and Kendal Vick (Madison, Ala./James Clemons HS) had two goals each.
Sophomore goalie Alexus Howard (Spring Hill, Tenn./Franklin HS) finished the game with nine saves.
Birmingham-Southern hosts North Central in its next game on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m.
