BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern assistant women’s soccer coach Crystal Royall has accepted an assistant’s position with the University of Alabama at Birmingham women’s soccer team for next season.
Royall will leave the Hilltop after three and a half years to take the goalkeeper coach’s position with the Division I Blazers. UAB is a member of Conference USA.
Royall came to BSC after playing four seasons with the Samford Bulldogs, where she was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection. She was also selected as OVC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2005, becoming the first player to receive both awards in league history.
Royall served as a volunteer assistant coach with Samford for the 2005 season before coming to Birmingham-Southern.
Said BSC head coach Benji Walton, “This is a great opportunity for Crystal and we are all really excited for her. Her dedication and passion will be missed by all our players, we wish her nothing but the best as she moves across town.”
