MEMPHIS – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team posted a dissatisfying tie Saturday against the University of Texas-Dallas, 0-0, in the opening game of the 2008 Rhodes College Tournament.
The match saw just four shots-on-goal for the entire 110 minutes of game play. Alicia Plotky had the only Panther shot in the first half, and Claire Hooten had the sole shot-on-goal for BSC in the second half. Neither team got a shot off in either 10-minute overtime period.
Goalie Ruth Hanks was able to save both of UT-Dallas’ shots in the game to maintain the tie for her first shut-out of the season.
The Panthers will look to get their offense going tomorrow as they face-off with Texas Lutheran in their second match at the Rhodes tournament. Game-time is set for 10 a.m. in Memphis.
BSC will return home next Friday, September 5, as they host Alabama State at 7:00 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
