GEORGETOWN, Texas – The BSC women’s soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 game at Southwestern on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops BSC to 7-6-2 on the season.
The only goal of the contest came in the 48th-minute off a rebounded shot from the Pirates Jillian Curran. “We have to tip our hat to Southwestern today, they took care of business on their home field and we couldn’t get into any kind of flow,” said Coach Benji Walton after the match.
The Panthers outshot the Pirates 14-10 on the day, with 9 of those on-goal to Southwestern’s four. In the end, however, Curran’s was the only shot that mattered.
BSC keeper Amber Hernandez collected three saves with one allowed in 57 minutes while Ruth Hanks went untested in her 33 minutes in the net.
The Panthers will be back home on Halloween night to take on the Sewanee Tigers at 5 p.m. from BSC Soccer Park.
