Women's soccer announces 2010 additionsBIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Head Coach Benji Walton has announced his 2010 recruiting class. This year’s class includes ten players from six states, two high school teammates, and a set of identical twins.
A defender out of Carmel, Indiana, Amanda played with the Carmel United Club Team from U10-U18, and was a member of the 2004 State Championship Team. At Carmel High School she was named to the First Team All District, Second Team All-State, Academic All-Conference, Academic All-State, First Team All-North, and Top Team Player at Carmel High School. On top of her athletic accolades she also achieved several academic honors as well. She was a scholar athlete, Academic All-conference and All-State, Honor Roll, and Core 40 Plus Academic Honors Diploma. Amanda plans on majoring in Nursing.
A multi-position acquisition out of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Jordan played club at Vestavia Hills Attack Soccer club for her entire competitive career. Her long list of accomplishments in soccer include Addidas Women’s Invitational Champion, Alabama Olympic Development State 92 Team (4 years), ODP Region III Camp, 6A High School Varsity Starter 9th-12th grade, Alabama State Cup finalist 2007-2008, 2006 Alabama State Cup Champions, Liberty Cup 2006 & 2007 Champion, 2009 CASL Shootout Champs, 2007 Memphis Memorial Day Invitational Champs, 2008 Texas Shootout with Alabama ODP 92, May/June 2008 ODP Region III Camp Invitation, and Southeast Region III Club Championships. On top of her club accomplishments Jordan also attended Preston Goldfarb’s Excellence Through Fundamentals Soccer Camp held at BSC for seven years. She plans on majoring in the Humanities with emphasis on Environmental Studies and Art History.
Richelle is a local goalkeeper out of Oak Mountain, Alabama. Her soccer experience ranges from 92 Attack White, Lady JETS 92 Red, and BUSA 92 Select. She was part of the 2008 State Finalists at Oak Mountain High School, who also went on to win the 2009 Lakeshore Shootout. Richelle has also been involved with the Alabama ODP State Pool. On top of her athletic accomplishments she has also tallied quite a few academic honors as well. Richelle is part of National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Presbyterian College Academic Achievement Award, Superintendent's Superior Scholar-PSAT Scholar, AP Chemistry Award, Key Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Richelle plans on majoring in Pre-Medicine at BSC.
A midfielder and defender hailing from Grayson, Georgia, Kelly competed on the Georgia Futbol Club Silverback’s Elite team from 2003-2010. Her club made it to the Georgia State Cup final four in 2005, Division A Champs in 2007, and Division A Runner up in 2009. She was a 4 year starter for the Grayson High School Varsity Team and was part of the team that won the 2007 Georgia State Championship. She was a member of the Georgia State ODP State Pool in 2005-2006. She also competed with the Silverback Super Y Team from 2005-2007, and as a member of that team Kelly was a National Semifinalist in 2005. On top of her soccer accolades her academic accomplishments include: National Honor Society, BETA, Top Ten Seniors, Ranked 4th out of 608 students (top 1%), 2 time All-County Scholar Athlete and Grayson High School Soccer Scholar Athlete. She plans on majoring in Chemistry.
A forward and defender, Hillary is from Germantown, Tenn in the Memphis Metro. She played club with the 92 Collierville Lady Lobos, a team which was Tennessee Division 1 State finalists in 2006, 2007, 2008 and made a Region III Southern Regionals appearance in 2009. Hillary joined the Tennessee Rush club for 2009. As a member of the Houston High School Varsity team, Hillary helped her 2009 squad win the AAA State Championship. In the championship game Hillary scored the first goal for her team as they brought home the title. On top of excelling at soccer Hillary is also an Honor Roll recipient all four years of high school from 2006-2009. She plans on pursuing Physical Therapy at BSC.
A midfielder and defender out of Carmel, Indiana, Katie has been involved with Carmel United Premier 92 Girls and was team Captain from 2007-2009. In 2009, Katie captained the Carmel United Elite 92 Girls. She elected to run cross country in high school after playing JV soccer both her freshman and sophomore years. Her cross country team won the Indiana State Championship in 2008. Along with her athletic accomplishments she has quite a list of academic achievements, including: scholar athlete all 4 years of HS, class awards in Honors English 10 (sophomore year) and A.P. Chemistry (junior year), National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, CHS Departmental awards in Drawing 3, 4, and 6, Honorable Mention for her painting in the Scholastics competition senior year, and Carmel International Arts Fair Blue Ribbon winner 2008. Katie plans on majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
A midfielder from Keller, Texas, M’Kayl’s soccer experience includes playing with the Odyssey 92 girls from 2002 to the present, Keller High School Varsity Soccer, Lady Indian Midfield MVP 2007, Division II Lake Highlands for 3 years, Team Captain for Odyssey for five years, All-Star Team at Xavier Soccer Camp 2006-2008, Orange Classic Champions 2008 (Odyssey Soccer), Nolan Showcase Champions 2009 (HS Soccer). She scored the winning penalty kick in the semifinal of the Orange Classic in Miami, Florida and the game winning penalty kick at the Nolan Showcase. On top of her soccer experience she also has built up quite a few academic accolades, including: National Honor Society 2008-present, Who's Who 2006, National Society of High School Scholars 2007-present, Distinguished Achievement Candidate, Texas Scholar Candidate, Student Athletic Trainer 2007-2009, Green Cord 2008-present, and Health Occupational Students of America 2006-present. She plans on majoring in Pre-Medicine at BSC.
A goalkeeper out of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jordan’s soccer experience is extensive both at the high school and club level. At Oak Grove High School her accomplishments include playing with varsity for 6 years, 2 year starter with a record of 36-5-2, her Goals Against Average at Oak Grove was .465 with 18 Shut Outs, she was Team Captain for 2 years, she was named All District as a Junior and a Senior, was also named Hattiesburg American - All Area Team as Junior and elected as her team’s Most Valuable Player in the same season. Ms. Papas was also a member of the Mississippi Olympic Development Program State pool for four years. She also played club soccer for Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association for 4 years where her teams were 2005 and 2006 State Champs and 2007 State Runner-up. She then moved clubs and joined the Gulf Coast United Futbol Club for 3 years, where she helped lead her teams to the 2008 State Title, 2009 State Runner-up and an appearance in the Southeast Region III Tournament. Along with her soccer accomplishments Jordan has also achieved straight A’s throughout her entire school career, she is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. Jordan plans on majoring in Pre-Medicine at BSC.
A defender from Homewood, Alabama, Jamie’s soccer accomplishments include Hoover Soccer Club MVP, 2005 Alabama State Finalists with the Mountain Brook Angels 2006 – 2008 Alabama State Champs with the Birmingham United Soccer Association Elite 92 team. Along with club she has been a member of the Homewood High School Varsity team where she was named team captain in 2009 and 2010. She has been named to the Birmingham All-Metro Team. She has was a member of the 92 Alabama Olympic Development Program Team from 2005 – 2008. Along with soccer Jamie has proven herself to be a strong student. Her academic accolades include; Beta Club, Key Club, Interact Club, Latin National Honors Society, and the Lady Patriots Leadership Team. She is the twin sister of Jennifer Sullivan.
A defender, also from Homewood, Jennifer’s soccer accomplishments include playing club soccer with the, 2005 Alabama State Finalists with the Mountain Brook Angels 2006 – 2008 Alabama State Champs with the Birmingham United Soccer Association Elite 92 team. Along with club she has been a member of the Homewood High School Varsity team where she was named team captain in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, she was named the team MVP at Homewood. She was also named to the Alabama State North High School All-star team. She also was a member of the 92 Alabama Olympic Development Program Team from 2005 – 2008. On top of her soccer accolades she also is a dedicated student. Her academic accolades include; Beta Club, Key Club, Interact Club, Latin National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Lady Patriots Leadership Team, and Mu Alpha Theta. She, like her sister, Jamie, is undecided about her major.
