BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to the Mississippi College Choctaws in game two of the 2009 Birmingham-Southern Soccer Classic tonight at BSC Soccer Park.
The Choctaws struck first, scoring in the 30th-minute and then they held on to that lead for the rest of the game. The Panthers had a few good chances but were never able to capitalize, despite outshooting MC 14-10.
Coach Walton, “I thought our girls played very hard tonight in a great game that could have gone either way. Hats off to Mississippi College for coming out on top, our defense was tough the whole game we just couldn’t catch a break on the scoreboard.”
The Panthers will return to the pitch Sunday afternoon in the final match of the 2009 Birmingham-Southern Soccer Classic as they face off with Berry College at 3:30 p.m. following the Sewanee-MC game at 1:00 p.m.
