Women's soccer gets 2-0 shutout over Hendrix

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern (4-4) women’s soccer team got their second win on the weekend, shutting out the visiting Hendrix College (6-2), 2-0 this afternoon at BSC Soccer Park.

The Panthers and Warriors played back-and-forth for the entire first half, with neither team able to get many opportunities.  The game went into the break tied at 0-0.

The BSC offense woke up in the second half, though, as #Alicia Plotky# got the Panthers on the board in the 51st-minute off a cross from #Jillian Theibert#.  The Panther defense continued to hold strong not giving Hendrix any chance to get into a rhythm.  #Serena Murphy# gave the Panthers an insurance goal in the 69th-minute to salt the game away for ‘Southern, connecting with Plotky’s feed into the box.

#Amber Hernandez# gave 90 flawless minutes in goal for the Panthers, collecting the shutout from the 6-2 Warriors.

BSC will be on the road this week as they travel to Sewanee on Friday before heading over to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe on Sunday.  Game times are set for 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.  The Panthers will return to BSC Soccer Park the following week, October 9th and 11th to host Trinity University and Southwestern University, log onto BSCsports.net for updated dates and times.
