Panthers roll over Petrels 4-1 on Sunday

The Birmingham-Southern Panthers defeated the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at OU.

The Panthers scored first when #Linda Amaya# took the feed from #Alicia Plotky# in the 31st minute to put BSC on top 1-0.  There were no other goals scored in the first half.

The second half turned into the Alicia Plotky show, as the sophomore rattled off three goals in the period for the hat trick, sealing the Panther victory.

Plotky scored in the 60th, 63rd, and 78th minutes off assists from Amaya, and #Lydia Rice#.

The Panthers out-shot the Petrels 17-7 on the day.  #Amber Hernandez# played 45 flawless minutes with two saves.  #Ruth Hanks# allowed the Petrels' only goal in the 86th minute but also collected two saves of her own.

BSC will return home this weekend to face Trinity and Southwestern.  Friday's match with the Tigers is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and Sunday's game with the Pirates is set for 1:00 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
