LAIE, Hawaii- The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team dropped the first game of their Hawaiian tour today, 2-0 at Division II BYU-Hawai'i. With the loss, the Panthers are now 7-6 on the season.
The Seasiders scored both goals in the early minutes of the match, first in the 10th and then in the 11th minutes. Natasha Aiono scored with a header off a free kick at 9:42 and Tara McPartland connected from 12 yards to put BYUH up 2-0.
'Southern settled down defensively for the remainder of the match, but were never able to get on the scoreboard.
The Panthers will continue their Hawaiian swing tomorrow when they face another Division II squad in the Hawaii-Pacific Sea Warriors at 8:00 p.m. Central (3:00 p.m. Hawaiian) tomorrow.
