Women's soccer tops Millsaps 2-0 on road

Box Score

JACKSON, Miss. -
The BSC Women's Soccer team traveled to Jackson tonight for a nightcap at Millsaps and came away with the 2-0 victory over the Majors. The win improves the Panthers to 9-6 on the year.

#Lydia Rice# got things started offensively early in the 22nd-minute thanks to a penalty kick.  The second goal came just five minutes later when #Sara Menton# broke out of the pack and bested the Majors' keeper with the assist from #Serena Murphy#.

The stats were even on the night, even if the goals were not.  BSC out-shot Millsaps 8-7, but the Majors held the edge in on-goal shots at 3-2.  #Amber Hernandez# collected the three saves in the shutout.

Coach Walton was pleased with his team's execution on the road.  "It is always good to get a win on the road, especially at a place as tough as Millsaps. They are a very tough, hard working team and I could not be prouder of our effort."

BSC will return to BSC Soccer Park on Tuesday for a non-conference match with the Maryville College Scots.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. back on the Hilltop.
