Women’s Soccer downs Huntingdon on the road to open 2010 campaign
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team defeated Huntingdon College to open its 2010 season, Wednesday, by the score of 2-0 in Montgomery, Ala.
BSC scored both of its goals in the first half, as freshman #Amanda Babbin# scored her first collegiate goal in the 13th minute off a corner kick, and junior #Sara Menton# scored in the 32nd minute off an assist from sophomore Brandi Mira.
Freshman goalkeeper Richelle Byrd made two saves, while HC goalie Jenny Burnash recorded eight. Sophomore Devon Weldon led BSC with 10 of the Panthers’ 26 shots, while Crystal Flores took two of Huntingdon’s three shots.
The Panthers travel to Maryville, Tenn., this weekend for the Maryville College Tournament, taking on Greensboro College, Sunday, at 4 p.m., and the host Scots, Monday, at 1 p.m.
