Byrd’s award marks the first time that a BSC women’s soccer player has earned an SCAC weekly award since the school joined the conference two years ago.
Byrd started her collegiate career with two straight shutouts this past week and played every minute of both games, leading the Panthers to their first 2-0 start since joining the SCAC. She made 7 total saves for a 1.000 save percentage while allowing no goals for a 0.00 goals against average.
The Panthers, who stand at 2-1 on the season after dropping a tough overtime game to Maryville on Monday, are next in action on Sept. 17, traveling to Atlanta to face Emory in a 7 p.m. start.
