DALLAS, Texas—Three first-half goals, two from senior Brittany Soto, helped the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team defeat University of Dallas, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Dallas.
The Panthers move to 5-2 on the season; all five of their wins have been shutouts.
Freshman M'Kayl Lewis scored the first goal in the fourth minute of play, followed by goals from Soto in the 29th (assisted by junior Sara Menton) and 38th (assisted by junior Alicia Plotky) minutes.
BSC out-shot Dallas, 30-3, led by Soto with seven shots and Plotky with six. Freshman goalkeeper Richelle Byrd started and played the first half, and freshman Jordan Papas came in for the second half and made one save in her first appearance in goal.
"I am pleased with the way we played this weekend," Head Coach Benji Walton said. "To come away with two wins on the road in Texas is a big accomplishment. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going into next weekend against DePauw and Centre."
The Panthers are at home next weekend, facing DePauw University, Friday at 6 p.m., and Centre College, Sunday at noon.
