BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team suffered its first home loss of the season Friday evening, losing to DePauw, 3-0, at BSC Soccer Park. The Panthers fall to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the SCAC, while the Tigers move to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in league play.
DePauw's first goal came in the 15th minute when Julia Drummond went one-on-one with BSC freshman goalkeeper Richelle Byrd. The Tigers scored again before the end of the half when Emily White collected a corner kick from Sophia de Silveira and found the back of the net at the 43:11 mark.
The Tigers went up 3-0 in the 80th minute on a goal from Christy Fillenwarth that ricocheted off the post and into the net.
Byrd played all 90 minutes and made seven saves for BSC, while Lauren Palfrey also played the entire game and recorded five saves.
DePauw out-shot BSC 19-11, led by Dana Sprague with five shots. Junior Linda Amaya led the Panthers with four shots.
BSC is at home again this Sunday, taking on Centre College at noon.
