HANOVER, Ind.—Another Sunday game for the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team went to overtime, this time against Hanover College with the teams playing to a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of action. BSC now stands at 1-2-1 on the season.
Hanover went ahead with an early lead in the game, after Christa Hurak found a hole in the BSC defense and put it past senior goalkeeper Amber Hernandez, who was making her first start this season. Senior Linda Amaya would be the lone goal scorer for the Panthers, as she hit a line-drive shot from about 20 yards out into the side netting, past Hanover goalkeeper Bethann Hancock.
Birmingham-Southern outshout the Panthers of Hanover, 16 to 10. Seniors Linda Amaya and Alicia Plotky led the charge, accumulating four shots apiece. Hernandez made five saves on the day.
The Panthers will take on Emory University next as they open their home campaign Friday, Sept. 16 at 6:00 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
