BSC clinches second seed in SCAC Championship with scoreless tie against No. 22 Centre

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team clinched the second seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming SCAC Women's Soccer Championship with a 0-0 tie against No. 22 Centre College today at BSC Soccer Park.
The Panthers move to 10-4-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the SCAC, while the Colonels move to 12-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in league play.
BSC hosts the upcoming tournament, which kicks off next Friday, Nov. 4, with quarterfinals beginning at noon. The Panthers will face either third-seeded Centre or sixth-seeded Sewanee on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2:30 p.m. It will be BSC's first-ever post-season appearance in the Division III era, being the first season that the Panthers have been eligible.
In today's scoreless tie, BSC out-shot Centre 21-17, but the Colonels held the advantage in shots on goal, 10-8. Senior Alicia Plotky led the Panthers with six shots.
Senior goalkeeper Amber Hernandez got the shutout in goal, making 10 saves. Centre keeper Kelli Lenz recorded seven saves in the 110-minute game.
