BSC downs West Alabama in preseason exhibition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two goals from senior Alicia Plotky helped the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team to a 3-1 exhibition game victory against West Alabama, Friday evening at BSC Soccer Park.

Plotky scored the first goal of the game at the 10-minute mark, assisted by sophomore Amanda Babbin, and scored again at the 42-minute mark, assisted by sophomore Kelly Craft.

UWA's Vicky Petrova broke the shutout in the 67th minute, but BSC added another goal at the 80-minute mark, this time from junior Devon Weldon, assisted by sophomore transfer Bailey Kimbell.

Sophomore Richelle Byrd played in goal for the Panthers, making two saves. Jess Martin recorded four saves for the Tigers.

The Panthers kick off the season officially next weekend at the Shellenberger Classic, hosted by Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va., where they will face Roanoke College, Sept. 3, and Lynchburg, Sept. 4.
