RALEIGH, N.C.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team lost to No. 3 Johns Hopkins, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in the Meredith College National Invitational Classic.
The Panthers fall to 1-2-1, while the Blue Jays move to 3-1-1 on the season.
JHU's Taylor Schulte scored the first goal of the game in the 43rd minute. The Blue Jays scored again late in the game when Jenny Hall found the back of the net off an assist from Schulte and Christina Convey in the 84th minute.
Hopkins out-shot BSC 13-7 overall, but shots-on-goal were even at 6-6. Junior Amanda Babbin led the Panthers with three shots, all on-frame.
Junior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes in the net, making four saves for BSC.
The Panthers open their home slate this Wednesday, facing Piedmont College at 6:30 p.m. in BSC Soccer Park.
