Late goal lifts No. 10 Centre over BSC, 1-0

DANVILLE, Ky.—A goal in the 79th minute lifted 10th-ranked Centre College to a 1-0 victory over the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team, Sunday afternoon in Danville, Ky.

The Panthers fall to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Colonels remain undefeated at 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the SAA.

The first half was scoreless, although both teams had chances, with Centre recording six shots-on-goal and BSC taking three that were saved by the goalkeeper.

Thirty-three minutes of the second half elapsed before the Colonels scored the lone goal of the game when Brittany Eisner found the net off a long ball outside the box.

BSC was unable to answer in the remaining 12 minutes, and Centre came away with the 1-0 win to remain undefeated.

Centre out-shot BSC 13-6 overall and 7-4 on-frame. Junior Bailey Kimbell led the Panthers with two of their shots. Junior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played the entire game for BSC, recording six saves.

BSC returns home for its next two games, taking a break from conference action to face LaGrange this Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Panthers will then resume SAA play on Saturday, taking on Hendrix at 4 p.m.
