BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team recorded its fifth shutout of the season Friday evening with a 3-0 victory over Berry College at BSC Soccer Park.
The Panthers move to 9-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Vikings fall to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in league play.
Junior Amanda Babbin scored the Panthers' first goal of the game in the 24th minute, and BSC led 1-0 at the half. Junior Bailey Kimbell put the Panthers up 2-0 in the 61st minute, assisted by senior Devon Weldon, and freshman duo Jessie Sperry and Avery Newcomb combined for the third goal of the game in the 82nd minute for Sperry's fourth goal of the year.
Junior Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes in goal for BSC and recorded five saves. Shots were even at 10 for each team, with Sperry and Babbin taking three apiece.
The Panthers are at home again on Sunday, facing Oglethorpe at noon at BSC Soccer Park.
